Exact File is especially designed to verify backups. It lets you work with Unicode filenames, and also very long filenames. It works with md5sum, sha1sum, sfv, FileCheckMD5, etc. To verify data it uses multiple checksum methods, like MD5, SHA1, CRC32, etc.
